Roof Rejuvenation FAQ
Answers to the questions we hear most often from homeowners across Virginia.
Cost
- The cost depends on your roof's size, age, condition, pitch, and which GoNano product is the right fit. We do not post prices because quoting without seeing the roof leads to mismatched expectations. The free inspection gives us everything we need to price your specific roof accurately. What we can say directly: rejuvenation costs significantly less than full replacement.
- In most cases, roof rejuvenation is not covered by homeowner's insurance because it is a preventive maintenance service rather than a repair for sudden damage. Check your policy or speak with your insurer if you have questions about your specific coverage.
Process
- Most residential roofs are completed in a single day. The inspection is a separate 30 to 45 minute visit. The application itself typically takes 2 to 5 hours depending on roof size and pitch.
- We ask that someone be available at the start of the job so we can walk through a few details and answer any last questions. You do not need to stay home for the entire application. We will let you know when we are finished and walk you through the completed work.
- We ask that everyone stay off the roof for a few hours after application while the coating cures. We give you a specific time window on the day of the job based on weather conditions.
- GoNano coatings need a short window to begin curing, typically a few hours. We monitor the forecast and will reschedule if rain is expected during that window. Once the initial cure has taken hold, rain is not a concern.
- Application temperature requirements vary by product. We schedule treatments for appropriate weather conditions and will advise on timing based on the season and your location.
Results
- GoNano products are rated for 10 to 15 years depending on the specific formulation applied. Bio Boost, designed for older roofs, is rated for approximately 5 additional years. The actual result depends on your roof's condition at the time of treatment.
- Yes. Treated shingles typically return to a darker, more saturated color as oil content is restored. This reflects real changes in the shingle material, not a surface coating or paint. The color change is often noticeable within the first day.
- No. Roof rejuvenation is not a repair product. If your roof is actively leaking, that issue needs to be repaired before any treatment is considered. We will note leak-related concerns during the inspection.
Safety
- Yes. GoNano coatings are water-based and biobased. There is no solvent runoff and no toxic residue. Your landscaping, garden, pets, and family are not at risk from normal runoff after the treatment. We ask that people and animals stay off the roof itself during application and until the coating cures.
- No. GoNano formulations are non-corrosive and safe for standard aluminum, vinyl, and galvanized gutters. We also take care to avoid overspray during application.
Eligibility
- The free inspection is the definitive answer. Generally, asphalt shingle roofs between 7 and 20 years old with sound structure and intact shingles are good candidates. Roofs with active leaks, structural damage, or severe granule loss may not qualify. We check all of these factors at the inspection.
- Possibly. Roofs over 20 years are assessed individually. Some older roofs still have enough material integrity to benefit from treatment. Others do not. We will give you a direct answer at the inspection rather than recommend treatment for a roof that will not respond.
- GoNano NuRoof products are formulated for asphalt shingles. They are not designed for metal roofing, clay or concrete tile, or wood shakes. If you have one of these roof types, this service is not a fit.
